This is a lovely model… by which I mean, a way to look at and understand something (or even everything).

I’ll say though, that a brilliant man who was an epidemiologist once said, “We have many models of how epidemics work. All the models are wrong. A few are useful.”

The “balance” model of inter-sex relationships is an interesting one; and it helps us to see… especially if we understand that it really represents a dynamic equilibrium. For example, if 40% of the men of your culture suddenly die in a war… then some new dynamic equilibrium will be struck between men and women, until it “all balances out”, again.

However, let us not become lost in the model until we can’t see the trees, for the forest.

It is possible that men have always given/created/developed/sacrificed/produced more (or much more) than women. In such a case, perhaps men have always suffered and lost and gained and acquired more (in sum of both love and respect) than women have… but the relationship between the sexes was still maintained and beneficial.

Perhaps one gender was always giving more as well as getting more, love and respect… and the other gender always will have to be happy with less (in total) of those… because they simply produce/earn less.

In that case, it would not “all balance out” between the sexes… but it would all be fair and just. Each gender would be receiving a sum of love and respect commensurate with their contributions.
