Below is a list of resources that you will not normally find listed at world wide web sites. They include mailing lists, webrings and news groups. To make your Internet experience more enjoyable, we will explain what each service is (including Gopher sites). Alternatively, you can click here to see a list of resources on the World Wide Web. NOTE: It is extremely difficult to keep this list up to date. Increasingly mailing lists that used to be distributed to individuals are finding a home at Yahoo.com. It is a good idea to search their list of "groups" and "clubs" (Yahoo is merging groups amnd clubs) for any topic that interests you.ENJOY!

Many browsers provide an automatic mailing feature. To use this feature look for the "Optons" feature included with your browser. Fill in the requested information about your internet service provider. Once this is done, when you click on an e-mail address below, your browser's mail program will be automatically activated. Alternatively, you will have to key in each e-mail address manually. The e-mail addresses below have been tested on Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. They might not work properly with lesser known products.

  1. NEWSLETTERS:

    The Divorce Survival Guide (TM) is a free monthly e-mail newsletter intended for people going through a separation or divorce. Topics covered include: How to deal with anger and other intense emotions, How to find the right professional help, How to help your children cope with separation and divorce, Step parenting tips and lots more. Provides latest research on divorce and separation, as well as list support groups, books, related WEB sites, and other resources you can use.

    "MEN'S HEALTH NEWSLETTER", published by the World Health Organization. The publication summarizes the latest news on menīs health issues from the www for you. This newsletter is a special service offered by the World Congress on Menīs Health (WCMH). Subscribe - Archives.

  2. LIST OF MAILING LISTS:

    1. PRAYER GROUP FOR MEN IN CRISIS - Men can request prayers for themselves. Men and women can request a prayer for a loved one. To request prayers send e-mail to micpc@mindspring.com with "Request" in the subject line. Requests will be kept entirely confidential and e-mail addresses will not be used for any other purpose. This prayer group spans the globe. Everyone is welcome.

    2. BSI INTERNATIONAL - This service sends out press releases concerning mostly father’s issues, but they also carry press releases of a general nature. To subscribe, contact them at bsi-international@earthlink.net. Their web site is: http://www.bsi-international.com/.

    3. AMERICAN MEN'S STUDIES ASSOCIATION - A body of academics concerned with teaching gender issues at the high school and college level. The AMSA makes available a complete list of men's studies courses at the university level, holds conferences and publishes research. You can contact them by e-mail at: Amsadave@aol.com. NOTE: This mail address is also the place where you can request to join their mass mailing list. The list sends out periodic news and alerts.

      If you are a teacher at the high school or college level we urge you to purchase, How To Conduct Men's Studies (send $5 plus $1 shipping - USA currency - to NCFM, PO Box 129, Manhasset, NY 11030). It makes the whole process easy. The kit is for those who want to introduce the topic in class rooms dealing with various other topics or who want to begin a dedicated course. The kit was prepared by a 15 year veteran in Men's Studies at the University of Dayton.

    4. FALSEACC mail list - This is a discussion group for men who have been falsely accused of sexual crimes. The general public may subscribe, but the list reserves its right to limit subscribers. To subscribe send e-mail to: listproc@IntNet.net . In the Subject type NONE or leave blank. In the message section put the following message: SUBSCRIBE FALSEACC@a-team.org and your real first and last name (example: SUBSCRIBE FALSEACC@a-team.org George Hill).

    5. Freedom For Kids Send e-mail to Freedom for Kids ffk@sympatico.ca and ask to subscribe. Nicholas Kovats is the list administrator. Freedom For Kids is concerned with the mistreatment of fathers. Some news of a more general nature is carried. The service originates in Canada and concentrates on Canadian and U.S. news. News from Europe and other parts of the world also appear. The list is informational in nature.

    6. National Prostate Cancer Coalition - Organization is comprised of Prostate Cancer victims, their loved ones and concerned citizens. Their main goal is to get the federal government to make Prostate Cancer a spending priority. The NPCC sends out news and action alerts. To subscribe go to their web site at: http://www.4npcc.org/aware/.

    7. NCFM maintains an interactive mailing list at Yahoo groups for members only! Membership is only $30 a year! You will also receive our bi-monthly newsletter.

    8. YAHOO EMAIL DISCUSSION GROUPS: - To participate in a group at Yahoo you must register with Yahoo. Yahoo egroups give you the choice of receiving all email at your email address or reading all email at the group's web site at Yahoo. All messages are archived.

      Go to http://www.groups.yahoo.com. You only have to register once with Yahoo in order to join as many groups as you want. To find a particular group you can use the search feature at Yahoo "groups". NOTE: The search engine on the main Yahoo (home page) web site is NOT the one you want. Make sure the words, Yahoo! Groups appears in the blue border near the top of the screen. Also NOTE: eGroups has been taken over by Yahoo. Some search engines still list egroups. If you see the name, egroups, click on it and you will go to Yahoo.

      • NATIONAL CONGRESS FOR FATHERS AND CHILDREN - Offers a conversational e-mail group where subscribers can talk about their own personal situations. To subcribe, search for NCFC. A list of different NCFC groups available will appear. The national list open to the general public is called NCFC-Network Forum (number 7). Follow the directions to join.

      • MEN'S HEALTH AMERICA - Posts men's health news and action alerts on their moderated listserv. Get involved! Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/menshealth/ and hit the "subscribe" button. Severl suggested groups are:

      • VOCAL (Victims Of Child Abuse Laws) - This is an online discussion group located at Yahoo. Recommended for victims of false accusation. Sign up at Yahoo. Search on VOCAL-NASVO.

  3. LIST OF NEWS GROUPS:

    NOTE: To access news groups you will need to have software that can locate and utilize news groups. We do not allow you to access news groups from this page, because to do so you would be empower you to use our Internet Service Provider. Instead, copy the names and paste them into your News Group software. This will cause your Internet Service Provider to do the look-up.

    Use the search feature in your News Group software to locate a particular news group and establish that it is still in existence. Each internet service provider decides what groups they will supply messages to. If you find a group and it has zero messages, complain to your ISP. Moreover, Internet Service Providers (ISP) can limit the number of messages carried by a news group. If your service provider is doing this it will greatly inhibit your ability to exchange messages or to join in discussion threads. Again, you should complain loudly to your ISP.
