Jeanne was NCFM’s representative to the San Mateo County Fatherhood Collaborative while it existed. She attended two SMCFC meetings, was developing a good working relationship with then Executive Director Carine Verdusco and is an active member of a broad-based children, father and family advocacy group working to resurrect the program; which, as the article below suggests, may have been defunded for political reasons.
San Mateo County, like all other counties has a plethora of programs for women, children and even animals. They had one for fathers. It is now gone. Father advocacy and programs are important, especially for our children. You would think politicians would understand that, especially those with sons.
Among other things, NCFM also helped sponsor the Dad and Me at the Park event last June, and Jeanne operated our outreach and education booth. NCFM was the only father advocacy group represented at the event.

Why would the county government give up on that? The release says the county was ditching the program “in favor of a model focusing on at-risk fathers through a multidisciplinary workgroup.” We are also told the county saved $118,000 by disbanding the collaborative.
Here’s a pro tip: Any time the government uses the words “model,” “at-risk,” “multidisciplinary” and “workgroup” in a single sentence, you are being taken for a ride. And the money? Please. If you think saving $118,000 was the county’s motivation, I’ve got a multidisciplinary workgroup for you…

The way San Mateo County has treated divorced father’s is so unfair. I went with my father Charles and the father’s we met under the direction of Mr Tim Collins. It was a pleasure to be around such Gentleman whom the county continually painted in a bad light. These father’s just wanted to be dads to their children despite the problems with their former.

In closing Dad and I met a UAL mechanic whose name I’ll exclude. He was a cool guy he had two sons and ex anyways he said Ty I get to meet with my two boys 11@13 at Rolling Pin donuts for 30 mins 2x a month while my ex mother in law and ex wife leer at me and my son’s from 6 feet away He seemed somewhat upset I was like that ain’t cool He lost his house his car half his pay and ended up on a friend’s couch and taking the SamTrans to SFO ! A week later Tim Or Mr Collins my father and I sat down and Tim announced that our friend had commited suicide my dad TWA 34 yrs SFO as well as I were stunned ! Anyways Congrats San Mateo County you helped one of your own just Run Me Over! I didn’t ever think that a system could be so Polluted with such corrupt rude and almost arrogant behavior while your would hope that Fairness and Respect be given to both parties but sadly it’s not. The County Board of Supervisors voted to abolish their public advisory board on fathers and replace it wth a panel of government bureaucrats containing no members of the community. So much for open government. Do they plan to do the same thing with their Commission on the Status of Women?
