Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy were purchased at a cost that can never be repaid. Across generations, men and women from every background stepped forward, not for recognition or reward, but because they believed this nation was worth defending. Today, we honor those who never returned homeβthose whose courage, duty, and sacrifice form the quiet foundation of our daily lives.
At the National Coalition for Men, we recognize that service has always been a shared burden. Millions of fathers, sons, brothers, mothers, daughters, and sisters have worn the uniform, and far too many gave everything they had. Their stories are not abstractions; they are the empty seats at family tables, the folded flags held tightly in grieving hands, and the legacies carried forward by loved ones who remember them not as symbols, but as people.
This day calls us to reflect not only on their sacrifice, but on our responsibility to honor it. That means striving for a nation worthy of their courageβone committed to fairness, equality, and the dignity of every citizen. It means supporting those who return from service, acknowledging the unique challenges faced by veterans of all genders, and ensuring that no one who served is forgotten or overlooked.
As we pause at 3 p.m. for the National Moment of Remembrance, we join millions across the country in a shared promise: to remember the fallen, to support the living, and to uphold the values they fought to protect. Their sacrifice is a charge to all of us to build a more just and compassionate nation.
Today, we honor them. And we carry their legacy forward.
