NCFM sends letter to Democrat Party explaining how to bridge the gap with men

July 24, 2025
By

After major losses in the 2024 election—arguably driven by the erosion of support from young male voters—the Democratic Party launched a $20 million initiative called the “Speaking with American Men” (SAM) Project.

According to coverage in MSNBC and Rolling Stone, the SAM Project aims to research how language, syntax, and content—especially in male-dominated spaces like podcasts, video games, and internet forums—may have contributed to young men shifting Republican.

But it appears they still don’t get it. For decades, the Democrat brand has been closely associated with advancing the interests of women and select marginalized groups, while showing little curiosity or concern for the distinct challenges facing men and boys, especially heterosexuals and minorities. Often, Democrat involvement has been limited to shaming, blaming and disenfranchisement.

The SAM Project is led by prominent progressive figures:

  • Ilyse Hogue, former president of NARAL Pro-Choice America
  • John Della Volpe, longtime youth pollster at Harvard and advisor to Biden
  • Colin Allred, former congressman who lost his 2024 Senate race to Ted Cruz

Hogue, Volpe, and Allred may be well-intentioned, but they’re ideologically entrenched and directly tied to the party’s 2024 defeat. If the goal is to understand and reconnect with male voters, wouldn’t it make more sense to draw leadership from neutral, experienced voices—particularly those who’ve been advocating for men and boys all along?

Organizations like NCFM and other mission-driven groups in the male advocacy space already have decades of insight. The Democratic Party doesn’t need to spend millions figuring out how to “speak” to men. It needs to start listening.

We and like-minded organizations can help the Democrats help all of us for much less than $20 million. We sent the letter below to Ken Martin, Chairman, Democrat National Committee.

The first question to ask the political parties today is “When are you going to fix title IV federal law so that it does not damage men and boys post-divorce?”

The second question to ask the political parties today is “We have government funded programs for women and girls; and programs for everybody. When are there going to be equally funded government programs for men and boys for equality? Man-up, step up, grow up, act like a man, be strong are not government funded programs and not equality”

I’m sorry that ink, paper, and postage was wasted.
The Pedocrat Party only helps evil people.

Beautifully written, Harry! Given the magnitude of outrage we might justifiably express, your restraint is admirable.

Even before reading this, I am reassured that NCFM is stepping in the right, (read correct,) direction!

All those who are similarly optimistic, (and even those who are skeptical,) of the success of an NCFM outreach to the Democratic Party, are invited to our monthly meeting of the NCFM Chicago chapter…

I’d be surprised if you got a sincere invitation to provide commentary. You may get a reply thanking you for your interest but I doubt you’ll get much more. The D. party has cast its lot with feminist women and “ideologically pure” minorities (ie, not just any minorities, just those who toe the party line). The ship has sailed. The “party of women” is unlikely to start sympathizing with men in any regard, least of all MRAs. But good luck!

Matt, you have higher expectations than ours. Nice to see that you are an optimist. Regardless, if you don’t ask a question you cannot get an answer. And, we are sincere in that should our request be granted we will have opened another door to make the world a better place for all of us, regardless of political beliefs and ideology. Thank you for your considered response. Harry Crouch, President/Chairman of the Board

Thank you, Harry. I fear that any and all approaches to the Democratic Party regarding men’s issues are a lost cause, but that is commendable that you made this effort, and that you did a great job of it. When EVERY candidate for DNC Chair stated that they thought Harris lost due to “racism” and “sexism”, James Carville said that the Democrats would never win another election.
