The Men’s rights movement is an international movement and effort to better the status and well-being of men. That is why it’s important that we stand in solidarity with men and men’s advocates across the globe.
This brings us to Croatia where men will soon have to deal with military conscription unless they succeed in their efforts to curb the government’s plans.
The Russian aggression in Ukraine is forcing Croatia to re-think their defense policy and capability.
Unfortunately it is bringing back a policy that should be relegated to the trash-bin of history – involuntary conscription.
However Croatian men are not going to let this happen without a fight! Croatia abolished its conscription system in 2008 but at the behest of the current Defense Minister – Ivan Anusic- the Croatian parliament voted to restore the policy. [1]
Croatians however are fighting back with an initiative called “STOP mandatory military service” or “STOP obveznum vojnom roku”.
They are organizing a big protest which will happen on 27 September in the capital city of Zagreb. [2]
Please support them in any way you can.
If you are a Croatian MRA reading this article – join their protest.
If you can’t, show solidarity with Croatian men by donating to their efforts or simply commenting and sharing their content on social media. Let them know you care about the rights and well-being of men in Croatia and across the globe.
If we let conscription be reinstated in more countries it will legitimize the practice everywhere.
This is Croatia’s last effort to sway the Government to abandon this plan.
If the protest fails, they are will file a class action lawsuit. We wish them good luck.
