Want strategy?  Read “Dismantling Family Court Corruption: Why Taking The Kids Was Not Enough” by Maryann Petri.  In an inspiring example of turning lemons into lemonade, Maryann Petri reveals how CPS was strategically employed to take her children away, cover up alienation of her children, put her in jail, and ultimately take away her nursing license.  And then she was exonerated–for four days.  CPS was not going to let a loss go.  They did it again.  You can find out whether Maryann survived the second onslaught in part five of her book.

In my work as a police officer investigating cases of child beatings, endangerment, and rape, and later as a criminologist specializing in DV, rape, abuse–and false accusations–peers have told me about the profit motive behind CPS aggression against non-offending parents.  That might be true.  In my own work I demonstrated the profit incentives driving the women’s shelter industry (see Ch. 3, The Judicial War On Men, Nelson, 2019, linked below).  I see the same thing in my work at a high level in government.  Numbers are routinely manipulated to “prove” results that get more money.   If someone has masterfully documented a profit motive for CPS, please send me the book and I will review it here.

Back to Maryann’s strategies.  These are the essential nuggets of her book.  At the end of each chapter Maryann provides “Takeaway” lessons.  Here are a few:

  • Learn about narcissistic, borderline and bipolar disorders (sometimes called the dark trilogy of mental illness). Maryann’s takeaway?  People need to, “Study these in-depth so when they get into a relationship and see these behaviors… leave before becoming deeply involved” (p. 13).
  • If anything inappropriate occurs in the court house, such as opposing counsel making threats in the hallway, ask the Sheriff’s Office for the surveillance footage and then file a complaint (p. 23).
  • Ask evaluating psychologists to assess for attachment suppression syndrome in your children (p. 32-33).
  • Memorize the five key symptoms of parental alienation syndrome (p. 33-34).
  • If CPS comes to your home don’t let them in. Tell them to contact your attorney (p. 44).
  • For the times when your children visit you, document their moods and what they say (p. 67).

Now is the time to get some strategy.
